Phil McDarby (Chief Creative Officer)

Phil has over 7 years professional experience in content development for the multimedia and games industries. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree, awarded by Trinity College Dublin.

 

He began his career with 44K.com, a Dublin-based web design / multimedia company, where he worked as a Graphic Designer. Next, he joined Segasoft Ireland where, in his role as Senior Content Developer, Phil created web content for a variety of multimedia and gaming web sites, and cutting edge user-interfaces for multiplayer, on-line gaming applications.

 

Phil left Segasoft in 1999 to take up a position as Research Associate with the MindGames Group, MediaLab Europe. During his tenure, Phil worked on 3D, biometric games, and was responsible for all creative aspects of the game production process, from initial concept to final implementation. In addition to creating and realising 3D environments and characters for the majority of the group’s games, he also had sole responsibility for composition of in-game music, and sound effects design.

 

Phil also has a substantial portfolio of freelance work and commissions, and has won over 50 awards and accolades for his artwork, including multiple Bryce Select Gallery and Digital Artworks awards, and the Golden Torus Award. Phil’s original musical compositions have been broadcast by RTE, the Irish national TV channel.

 

In 2004, Phil left MediaLab Europe to co-found Vyro Games Ltd., where he oversees the creative process, while also taking a hands-on role in all aspects of content production.
